BIOGRAPHICAL NOTES:
Cynthia Winifred "Winnette" Portwood was born April 20, 1919 in Denton, Texas to
to Hayden B. Portwood and Winifred (Garvey) Portwood. She attended Texas
Women's University, graduating in 1942. She married in Denton TX at the "Little
Chapel-in-the-Woods" to James Good on March 14, 1942. According to her
death certificate, she was divorced so she apparently took back her maiden name.
Cynthia taught Typing, Shorthand, and Bookkeeping at Carrollton High school in
1942. She does not appear in any other yearbooks. At the age of 55, Cynthia was
working as a secretary at North Texas State University in Denton, Denton Co.,
TX. At 7:00AM on Jan 16, 1975, she slipped in the bath tub and hit her
head, which caused her accidental drowning. She was laid to rest on
January 18, 1975 at the Roselawn Memorial Park, Denton, Denton Co., Texas.
