William Rae

James William Rae born to Author Rae and Claudia Mae Choate Rae.
James was raised in the country in a town named Newby. He raised
watermelons, James loved to hunt and fish with his Dad Pa Rae.
James went to school in Jewette Texas. James sold his watermelon
patch in August of 1954 and move to the Big city of Houston.
James married Joyce Shelly
on March 20, 1965. On March 26, 1974 They had a beautiful
daughter, Debra Rae. James Rae began working at LIS on August 2,
1954. LIS was then the Bettes Company of Houston Texas. James
had just graduated from High School and began his many
contributions to the company in the mail room. James worked in
the mail room for about 1 and a half years. While making mail
runs through the IBM department he became interested in the
printers, punch cards, readers, collators, sorters, and other
equipment. James transferred to the IBM department and began
working with the punch card machines. He learned how to wire
boards, to make them print, sort, collate, interpret, calculate,
or whatever was needed. In 1963 and NCR computer was purchased.
James became operations supervisor of the NCR315. In 1969, James
moved into programming. The Bettes Company was purchased by the
Lomas and Nettleton Company in 1968. James moved his family to
Carrollton in 1981. After 39 years, September 29, 1993 James
retired. James worked for DISD and retired in 2003. Preceded in
death by his mother Claudia Mae Rae, Father (Pa) Rae, brother,
Delma Lee Wycuff, wife, Joyce Rae granddaughter, Christina Hope
Frost. James survived by his, daughter, and son-in-law, Debra
and Johnnie Frost of Flower Mound, granddaughters, Haley and
Emma Frost of Flower Mound, sister, Flora Robertson of North
Zulch, brother, Wayne Rae of Carrollton. In lieu of flowers, we
would like for people to make donations to Northside Baptist
Church 2000 N. Denton Carrollton, TX 75006. Pallbearers: Mark
Goodrow, Dale Morgan, Brandon Morgan, Danny Upchurch, Don
Shelly, and Steve Goodrow.. Services will be held at 10:00 a.m.
Saturday at Northside Baptist Church. Visitation will be held
Friday from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at Metrocrest Funeral Home 1810 N.
Perry Road Carrollton, Texas 75006. Burial will be at
Hilltop Memorial
Park immediately church services. |
