Velola Javon Rhodes, 69 of Dallas passed away on Friday April 30, 2010 at her home surrounded by her family. She was a loving wife, mother, sister and loyal friend to so many. She will be truly missed. A Memorial will be held at St. Pius Catholic Church in Dallas on May 13th at 10:00 am. Mrs. Rhodes was born October 10, 1940 in Lewisville, Texas. She is preceded in death by her parents Carl and Freida Joplin, brother Carl Joplin Jr. and husband John "Dusty" Rhodes. She is survived by her children Bill Tinsley and wife Tammy, Mike Tinsley and wife Peggy, Gay Poole and husband Bert, Amber Rhodes and Dusty Rhodes, brother Jim Joplin and wife Joyce, sister in law Jackie Joplin, seven grandchildren and seven great grand-children. She leaves behind many dear friends from her 30 plus years with Braniff International Airlines and later retiring from Steakley Chevrolet-Dallas. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Dallas chapter of the SPCA.
