OBITUARY
 In
Memory of
Ramon Antonio Rivera Sr.
February 17, 1931 - October 7, 2015
Ramon Antonio "Ray" Rivera Sr. passed away on October 7th, 2015
in his home surrounded by his loving family in Carrollton, TX.
Ray was born in Barranquitas, Puerto Rico to Juan & Carmen
Rivera. He married the love of his life, Joan, on September 18th
in Edinburgh, Scotland. They were happily married for 56 years.
Ray spent 24 years serving our country in the US Air Force,
retiring as a Senior Master Sgt. in August 1973. The Rivera
family moved to Carrollton shortly after, and Ray worked for
Xerox Corporation for another 21 yrs before retiring. Ray was
active in the Carrollton community serving on the CFBISD school
board for 6 years, he was instrumental in providing the park in
the Oak Hills community, and was an HOA board member, among many
other things. Ray and Joan were also members of the Asociacion
Boricua de Dallas since 1981 and for more than 35 yrs were
members of The Gourmet Club. Ray showed a drive and passion in
all he did from family to friends and the community.
Ray is preceded in death by his parents, Carmen & Juan, his
sister Chepa, and his granddaughter, Melissa.
Ray is survived by his wife, Joan; his children, Carmen, Ramon,
& Wanda; his grandchildren, Victor, Amanda, Chelsea, and Gavin,
and many brothers, sisters, nieces, nephews, and friends.
Visitation will be on Sunday, October 11th from 3:00pm-7:00pm at
Rhoton Funeral Home in Carrollton, TX.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00am, on October 12th at St.
Catherine's of Siena Catholic Church, in Carrollton, TX with
Father Augustine officiating. Following mass, there will be a
full honors military burial service at the Dallas-Fort Worth
National Cemetery. Arrangements are by Rhoton Funeral Home
