OBITUARY Joe Alton Robinson
1931 - 2021
Joe Alton Robinson, 90, passed peacefully on Sunday, April 18, 2021
following complications associated with a recent stroke. He is survived by his
son, Alton Scott Robinson; daughter, Amy (Phil) Gilmore; daughter, Julia Dameron,
grandson, Nicholas Gilmore; grandson, Zachary Gilmore; granddaughter, Rebecca
Gilmore; granddaughter, Delaney (fiancé Eben Haines) Dameron; grandson, Dylan (Lia)
Dameron; great grandson, James Dameron. He is preceded by his wife, Della Wayne
Robinson; father, Henry Alton Robinson; mother, Susie Mae Robinson; brother,
William (Marjorie) Robinson; sister, Frances Robinson.
A native of Carrollton, Texas, he enrolled at North Texas State University where
he studied pre-engineering and industrial arts for two years. Later he received
a Bachelor of Science Degree in Commerce, Industrial Management from the Texas
Christian University. In 1951 he enlisted in the U.S. Navy and spent two years
in Japan. Returning to the U.S. in late in 1953 he was stationed at San Diego,
California where he was responsible for installation and repair of sheet metal
hardware on submarines. After leaving the service he was employed at Lockheed
for more than 30 years in various roles and divisions. Initially he was a
Manufacturing Engineer for Lockheed Missiles and Space Company in Sunnyvale,
California, moving to Houston, Texas in 1963 to join the Houston Aerospace
Systems Division as a Planning and Scheduling Engineer. He was very interested
in local civic activities and over his lifetime was involved and served in many
organizations including April Sound Men's Club, National Management Association,
Lockheed Houston Management Association, TCU Student Council, Elks Club, Chamber
of Commerce and Toastmasters International (District Governor and Chapter
President).
Joe was married to the love of his life, Della, for 67 years. He was proud of
his three children, five grandchildren and his new great grandchild. He enjoyed
living life to the fullest. After retiring, Joe and Della built a new home in
April Sound, Montgomery, TX and quickly made many new friends during their 27
years of residence. Joe loved his family, traveling the world with Della,
tending his yard/flowers, eating good food, watching Wheel of Fortune and
striking up conversation with all. The Man, The Myth, the Legend!

memory of Joe Robinson.
