OBITUARY
 
Carolyn Rogers
August 22, 2017


A funeral service for Carolyn Moore Rogers, 77, of Kingwood, Texas, previously of Marshall will be held Saturday, August 26, 2017 in the Chapel of Downs Funeral Home at 10:00a.m. Visitation with family and friends will take place Friday, August 25, 2017 from 5:00p.m. - 7:00p.m., at the funeral home. Ms. Rogers passed away Tuesday, August 22, 2017 in Humble, Texas.


Carolyn Moore Rogers was born September 24, 1939 to Walter C. Moore, Jr. and Lottie Elia Moore in Marshall, Texas. Carolyn was a graduate of Marshall High School and Centenary College where she graduated with a degree in Elementary Education. While still in school, and raising Judith and Todd, she completed her college degree and graduated with honors. Her teaching career spanned more than 30 years, moving from elementary education, to supervisor and finally, a Principle for Carrollton Farmer Branch ISD where she would later retire.

Carolyn’s faith in Jesus was always important, and she made it a point to serve at her local church wherever she lived. She loved teaching Sunday School and volunteered to work with the Vacation Bible School students. Carolyn was an active member at Prestonwood Baptist Church in Plano, Texas. She will be remembered for her years in education, her loving spirit and servant heart.

Survivors include her daughter, Judy Abbott and her husband, Stacy; son, Todd Rogers and wife, Betty; grandchildren, Carrie Cohen Gilliland and husband, Byron, Craig Cohen and wife, Stephanie, Megan Abbott, Emily Rogers Robinson and husband, Justin, Bradley Rogers and wife, Stephanie, and Erin Rogers Flowers and husband, Michael ; and two great-grandchildren, Brynn Cohen and Gracyn Gilliland.

Preceding Carolyn in death were her parents, Dub and Lottie Moore; sister, Delores Woods; and brother, Dr. Jim Moore.
