Farmers Branch Boy Promoted In Army

Ellington Field, Texas, Aug 30. It was announced today that Corporal William J. Rowe, son of Mrs. Flora Rowe of Farmers Branch, has been promoted to the rank of sergeant.
Rowe is at present assigned to the air corps base as an airplane mechanic. He enlisted in the Army at Kelley Field in July, 1940.

Rowe, William John (W.J.)
Rowe, William John (W.J.) William Rowe was born in Farmers Branch, Texas on January 5, 1920 and passed away from this life in Plano, Texas on February 16, 2010. He was the fifth son of the late Arthur A. and Flora Good Rowe, and is predeceased by an infant brother, Clifton, and brothers Chester, Edwin, and Robert. He is survived by one niece, Carol Craddock, and two nephews, Robert Rowe and Kenneth Rowe. William proudly served his country in World War II, the Korean War, and the war in Viet Nam. He retired from the United States Air Force as a MSGT in 1973. Visitation will be from 6:30 to 8:30PM Thursday February 18, 2010 at Restland Funeral Home. Service will be at 10:00AM Friday February 19, 2010 at Restland Memorial Chapel.
