OBITUARY

William Campbell Sampson III
August 15, 1943 - December 19, 2013

William Campbell Sampson, III was born in Fort Worth, Texas on August 15, 1943 to William C. Sampson, Jr. and Leone Sampson. While in the Scouts, he achieved the highest rank of Eagle Scout by fulfilling requirements in areas of leadership, service and outdoor skills. He graduated from Carrollton High School in 1961 and went on to graduate from East Texas State University, with a Bachelor of Science degree in 1967. He then worked in sales for Best Foods, traveling throughout his territory in Dallas and East Texas. Soon after that, he started his own custom picture framing business, Sampson Sales Southwest, based in Fort Worth, TX. He settled down in Dallas, married, and became the father of three children, Stephen, Christine and Stuart. He later moved back to ‘Cowtown’ and lived in White Settlement, TX.
Bill was a prankster, liked to joke around and make people laugh, always the life of the party. There was never a dull moment whenever Bill was around. He loved life, his family and friends, enjoyed people, and would gladly give you the shirt off his back if you needed it. He was a great story teller, had lots of wild adventures and unique experiences to draw from, but he was also a great listener and always offered a shoulder to lean on. He loved traveling around the county and seeing new sights, going on road trips at the spur of the moment. “Just get in the car and let’s go see where we end up!” he would say with a grin. He enjoyed camping out under the stars, boating and water skiing, and was a talented artist, painting and sculpting. One of his favorite places to be was at his home in San Luis, surrounded by the beautiful mountains of Colorado.
Bill was always very dedicated to his children, teaching them good moral values, work ethics, and about life in general. He was also a proud grandfather. He was a kind, loving father, grandfather, son, brother, uncle, and a caring friend. He had a genuine heart of gold, and will be greatly missed by all of the lives he touched.
Bill is survived by his children Stephen Sampson, Christine Sampson, Stuart Sampson, his mother Leone Sampson, his sister Darla Anderson, brothers Sidney and Terry Sampson, and his grandchildren Ethan and Ella Sampson, as well as many nephews, nieces, and cousins.

A Memorial Service will be held at Eastgate Funeral Home, Saturday, December 28, 2013 at 2:00 pm.

In lieu of flowers, please make donations in his name to the Salvation Army, or charity of your choice.
