OBITUARY

SANDERS, LODA BELLE McRIGHT, born September 23, 1914 and passed away February 2, 2004. She is survived by her daughter, Melinda Dale and her husband, Joe Anderson and her granddaughter, Melinda Michelle Anderson. Mrs. Sanders is a great-granddaughter of Alexander Wilson Perry, the founder of Carrollton and a prominent member of the Peters Colony group that migrated west to Texas from Illinois in the 1840's. She was born and raised in Carrollton, the youngest of three daughters of William Simpson McRight, a Baptist minister and his wife, Lura Dale Warner McRight. She was a member of the 1932 graduating class of the old Carrollton High School. Loda later earned a bachelor's degree in Education and a graduate degree in Comparative Literature, both from Southern Methodist University. Her two older sisters, Auverne McRight Davis and Bessie May McRight preceded her in death. She was an active, longtime member of First Baptist Church in Garland and the Peacemaker's Sunday School class. She enjoyed participating as a Campfire Girls leader with her daughter's group. Loda loved animals, especially "Dandy" and "Boyfriend". She, too, was an avid reader, enjoyed gardening and had a great love of music. Loda Belle was a devoted wife and homemaker to her late husband, Ralph of sixty-three years. She was a wonderful mother, who lovingly gave guidance and unconditional support. She was the quintessential grandmother with her sweet nature and loving heart. Nana was a woman of great beauty and elegance with a joyful disposition, whose laughter we will all sorely miss. The Thanksgiving dressing will never be the same. Nana, bless your heart! The funeral service will be conducted Saturday afternoon at 1 o'clock, February 7, 2004 in the sanctuary of the First Baptist Church, 801 West Avenue D, Garland. Rev. Jack Schmid and Dr. Carr Suter will preside. Concluding service will follow in the McRight family plot at the historic Perry Cemetery in Carrollton. The family will receive friends one hour preceding the service commencing at 12 noon. Flowers may be delivered to the church after ten o'clock Saturday morning.
