OBITUARY

Sandy Sanford, Jr.
Sept 29, 1941 - May 21, 2024

Sandy Sanford (Gideon William Sanford, Jr.) passed away on May 21, 2024, at Baylor Scott & White Hospital in Waco, Texas. The family will be gathering over the next several weeks to celebrate his life.

Sandy was born September 20, 1941, in Dallas and grew up in Carrollton, Texas. He attended Carrollton High School and North Texas State University where he earned a Bachelor of Business Administration in 1964. He earned his CPA license in 1966 from the State of Texas and worked in the profession of public accounting for over a decade. Sandy then spent the remainder of his long career with McLane Company and McLane Group.

Sandy enjoyed his work, and particularly the challenge of a major negotiation. He loved spending time with his family during special times outdoors, on trips, at the ranch, and especially at the cabin in Colorado.

Sandy will be remembered by his coworkers by the phrase that they engraved on a special gift "The best coach this team’s ever had" and by his family as a rock-steady husband, father, and Pawpaw.

His family finds inspiration to move forward with his encouragement to "Knock ‘em Alive", and to do so in a way that we "Love and Cherish each other", and to begin our journeys with the positive exclamation of "Contact"!

Sandy is survived by his wife, Donna Sanford; his son, Scott Sanford and wife, Shelly; his daughter, Catherine Sanford; his grandchildren, Justin Spangler and wife Alison Sung, Haley Spangler, Ryan Sanford and his wife, Jaclyn, and Lauren Dawson and her husband, Andrew; and great grandchildren Charlotte Dawson and Liam Sanford.
