Halbert Savage who passed away peacefully at home on Thursday, February
28, 2019 in Denison, Texas. She was born in Starkville, Mississippi, on
January 30, 1929, and married Thomas Charles “Buddy” Halbert on February
6, 1946 in Durant, Mississippi. They were married for 51 years before
Buddy passed away in 1997. She married James Savage of Bonham, Texas, on
April 10, 1998, and spent 21 years together before her passing.
She was a member of the Church of Christ on Morton Street in Denison,
Texas, and truly loved the Lord with all her heart. In her earlier
years, she loved the ranch where she raised cattle, gardened and you
could always find her in the kitchen canning, cooking and baking. She
also loved to knit, crochet and her love for flowers was undeniable. She
made such beautiful treasures for so many people, like scarves, hats,
blankets and anything else you can imagine.
Mary is survived by her husband, James Savage; two daughters, Greada
Souther and husband Kenneth, and Ferol Chandler; her grandchildren, Troy
Souther and wife Karen, Adam Souther and wife Lea, Audra Baker and Matt
Baker and wife Lyn; her great grandchildren, Alivia Souther, Maddie
Souther, Blake Souther and Jake Souther.
Mary is preceded in death by her brothers and sisters, Howard Parrish,
Kay Strickland, Helen Birchfield, Marie Smith and Bill “Junior” Parish.
The family has scheduled the service for 11:00AM Monday, March 4, 2019
at Cooper-Sorrells Funeral Home Chapel in Bonham, Texas, with a
visitation one hour prior to the service. Interment will follow at
Keenan Cemetery in Farmers Branch, TX.
