Margaret Josephine Houser was born September 11, 1871, in Polk county, Missouri,
and came with her people to Texas ten years later, settling near Gatesville.
Early in life she professed religion and joined the Methodist church,
maintaining her membership through life. She was married to W. F. Savell August
21, 1890, and to this union thirteen children were born, ten are yet living and
together with the husband mourn the loss of a mother and wife. She was a good
and loving neighbor and friend and was always doing her part to rear a family
that would reflect honor and credit on their parentage. She has nearly thirty
grandchildren and some of these who were motherless she was caring for.
The children are Mrs. R. W. Jones of Penwell, Texas; Mrs. W. A. Gardner and Mrs.
J. E. Follis, Pecos, Texas; Mrs. L. B Miller, St. Louis, Mo.; Mrs. G. B.
Jones and Mrs. T. N. Glidewell, Carrollton, Texas; W. L. Savell and C. F. Savell
of Carrollton; Mary and Sylvia Lee Savell of Lewisville, Texas, and the husband,
W. F. Savell.
C. F. Savell (Bud), chief mechanic at Vandergriff Chevrolet Company, is one of
the sons and he was certainly shocked at the sudden demise of his mother. He had
been home just a few days prior and she seemed to be in good health, so the blow
came most unexpectedly.
