Jennie Marguerite (Lathem) Schmitz
July 18, 1921 - December 22, 2019

Schmitz, Jennie Marguerite (Lathem)
Jennie Marguerite Lathem Schmitz was born July 18, 1921 in Floydada, Texas. Her family moved to Dallas where she lived the rest of her life till she passed away on December 22, 2019. She was raised on a farm bordering Midway Road and Northwest Highway with her parents Festus Lathem and Oma Clark Lathem, her sister Hettie and brothers Ferman and Ben. She attended school in Dallas and Carrollton graduating from Vickery Hillcrest High School. Jennie married Warren Hogan in 1942 and had their daughter Ann. Warren was killed in action in WWII in 1944. In 1948 she married Leonard Schmitz and had three children, Betsy, Bob and Jim. Leonard owned Club Schmitz which was in business from 1946 till it closed in 2014. They were married 62 years till his passing in 2010. She is preceded in death by her parents, Festus Lathem and Oma Clark Lathem, her sister Hettie and brothers Ferman and Ben, and her beloved granddaughter Rachel Schmitz. She is survived by her children Ann (Roy) Young, Betsy (Bill) Lehman, Bob (Shawn) Schmitz, and Jim Schmitz. Jennie has eleven grandchildren, Eileen, Roy III, Angela, Tom, Guy, Alex, Maegan, Lauren, Adam, Eric and Jennie. She is also survived by twenty great- grandchildren.

The family of Jennie Lathem Schmitz wish to thank you for your kind expressions of sympathy and many acts of kindness during this difficult time.

Family will receive visitors on Thursday, December 26, 2019 from 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm in the Brooks Family Chapel of the North Dallas Funeral Home, 2710 Valley View Lane, Farmers Branch, Texas 75234. The rosary will begin at 7:00 pm.

Funeral mass will be celebrated on Friday, December 27, 2019 at 10:00 am at St. Monica Catholic Church, 9933 Midway Road, Dallas, Texas 75220.

You are invited to visit with the family for lunch in St. Monica Family Center after the Mass. The internment at Calvary Hill Cemetery will follow lunch at 1 pm, 3235 Lombardy Lane, Dallas, Texas.

In lieu of flowers the family requests that you make a donation to your favorite charity.
