OBITUARY
 

ARNOLD SCHULTZ

Arnold Edwin Schulz, was born 3-7-1924 in Vernon, Texas, son of Paul O. and Ella Schulz. He attended St. Paul Lutheran School, W. Vernon High, North Texas University and SMU.  He passed away 12-10-2005 after a short illness.
He married Marianna Poston Schulz on September 4, 1948. Survivors are his wife; one son, Randy Schulz, his wife Laura, of Southlake, TX; one daughter, Sandy Ericksen, Elijah Ericksen, 1 granddaughter, Magdalena Ericksen; 1 step-grandson, Adam Periman and wife Tricia; 2 brothers Marvin and wife Mollie, of Sherman, TX; Wilbert and Dorothy, of Vernon, TX; several nieces, nephews, great nieces and great -great nieces and nephews; one brother-in-law Jerry Randall Poston of Anaheim, CA. He was preceded in death by his parents, Paul O. and Ella Schulz and 2 brothers, Hilton Walter and Ewald Schulz, and 1 sister, Ruby VOgel.
He served in WWII in the South Pacific 44th Fighter, 18th Figher Group, 13th Air Force on island of New Caledonia, Guadacanal, Sansapor, New Guinea, Halmahera, and Moretia, East Indies; in Philippines cities of Mindoro, Lingayen Gulf, Zanboanga City, Puerto Princess Palawan, and Leyte.

He was employed by Burk's Grocery in Vernon, TX, and later worked for the Lone Star Gas Co. in Vernon. He joined Kraft Foods Co. in July 1949 in Production. He also served in Traffic and Transportation and as Buyer in the Purchasing Dept. in Garland, TX. He was transferred to Buena Park, CA, plant as Material's Manager, then  promoted to Materials Manager Champaign COmplex, Champaign, IL. He retired from Kraft in June 1987, after serving 38 years.

He was an active member of the Garland Junior Chamber of Commerce. He served as co-chairman of the Cancer Crusade and was awarded a Certificate of Recognition from the Dallas County Cancer Crusade for this service. He was a charter member of Peace Lutheran Church in Garland, TX, helping to organize the chruch by obtaining the State Charter. He served as the Sunday School Superintendent, on the Board of Elders, and as President. He served on the Building Committee for the original building, two additions, and the present sanctuary. He was active in the Boy Scouts, serving as Committee Chairman, representing Peace Lutheran Chruch and Boy Scouts of Garland.

He also served on a number of other committees in his fourteen years as a member of St. John's Lutheran in Champaign, IL. He chaired the Board of Evangelism for St. John's for several years.  He was elected to the Board of Education as Facilities Chairman, to start a new elementary school for the church. This resulted in buying five portable buildings in Arthur, IL, then moving them fifty-one miles to Champaign, IL, for retrofitting to use for the newly established school.

he retired in Carrollton, TX, becoming an active member of Prince of Peace Lutheran Church, serving as Facility Chairman of the Prince of Peace Lutheran School, building eight additional new classrooms needed for the school. He was also Assistant Supervisor, building the new gym as the church's new location in Carrollton at Midway and International.
