She is survived by her husband of 52 years, Donald Hinson Sheffield of Farmers Branch, Texas; daughter and son-in-law Lynne and Jimmy Herweck of Pasadena, Texas; son and daughter-in-law Don and Jodi Sheffield of Farmers Branch; daughter and son-in-law Julie and Rob Bratcher of Odessa, Texas; grandchildren Josh, Katie, Sarah, Hannah, Matt, Kendall , Mandie, Kendell, Maurie, Millie, Robbie, Anna, Allie, Rhett and Addie; brother and sister-in-law Dr. L.G. and Wynk Hicks of Clarkesville, Georgia; sister-in-law Leona Sheffield of Dallas and numerous nieces and nephews. Flora was preceded in death by her parents, L.G. and Flora Hicks of Clarkesville, Georgia. Flora graduated valedictorian of the 1946 senior class of Clarkesville High School. She attended Bob Jones University at 16 years of age and graduated from the University of Georgia in 1950. She married the love of her life on June 12, 1954. Following the birth of her first two children, Flora graduated from the Medical College of Georgia in 1957. She moved to Dallas, Texas with her husband and now three children where she interned at 3 area hospitals - Veteran's, Children's and Parkland. Before taking time off to raise a family, Flora practiced medicine in Carrollton, Texas, sharing about God's love with her patients, her Bible on the desk. She continued in limited practice until recent years. Flora shared God's love not only with her patients, but also through her service to God as a Sunday School teacher, church pianist, church organist, and choir member. She continually encouraged everyone who crossed her path from family to those who cared for her during her days in the hospital. Her words of encouragement have lifted many spirits and while the words will be missed, they have made a lasting mark on the lives of those she touched. Family will receive friends on Sunday, July 9, 2006 from 4-6 p.m. at North Dallas Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held on Monday, July 10, 2006 at 2:00 p.m. at First Baptist Church, Carrollton, with internment at Hilltop Cemetery.
