Funeral services will be held Monday, Aug. 8, 2011 at 1:00PM at the First
Baptist Church in Honey Grove, TX, for Jim Siebenthal a long time resident of
Carrollton, TX. Jim passed away on Aug. 5, 2011.

U.S. VeteranJim Siebenthal, 91, of Honey Grove, TX, entered eternal rest
on Aug. 5, 2011 and went on to be with the Lord.
Funeral services will be held Monday, Aug. 8, 2011 at 1:00PM at First
Baptist Church in Honey Grove, TX, with Reverend Jerry Smith and Dr. Ken
Yates officiating. Family visitation is scheduled for Sunday evening,
7:00 to 8:00PM at the Cooper-Sorrells Funeral Home Chapel in Honey
Grove. Pallbearers will be Charles Melton, Dennis Whitlock, Kenneth
Billings, Don Thompson, Jessie Shipman and Jimmy Doyle. Named as
honorary Pallbearers are Quinten Hawkins, Joe Gilbreath, Lemuel Locke,
Roy Perry, Bob Waters, Bob Milford, Bill Thurman, Alva Strickland and
Alvin Fields. Private family committal will be held at Oakwood Cemetery,
Honey Grove, TX.
James Francis (Jim) Siebenthal was born Jan. 5, 1920 in Honey Grove, TX
to parents Roy Francis and Lela (Wilkins) Siebenthall. He was preceded
in death by his parents, one sister and two brothers. He was raised
southeast of Honey Grove in the McClelland community. Jim united with
the McClelland Baptist church at the age of 13, attended the McClelland
one room, one teacher school until he transferred to the Honey Grove
school system. There he played football and was all district guard for
the Honey Grove Warrior football team. After finishing school he served
in the Untied States Air Force, trained as the flight engineer on a B29
during WWII and eventually retired as a Master Sgt.. He married Ruby
Grace Dockery on March 1, 1942. This union was blessed with one son,
Stan Siebenthal. Jim was ordained as a deacon in the First Baptist
Church in Honey Grove on Sept. 10, 1952. Jim and his family moved to
Carrollton TX in the mid fifties and lived there some 30 years. While in
the Carrolton area he was the manager of Foxworth-Galbraith Lumber Co.
later was named as the Director of Purchasing for the Carrolton-Farmer
Branch ISD from which he retired. He was a member of the Texas Assoc. of
School Business Officials. While living in Carrollton Jim was a very
active member of his Church and civic organizations, serving as the
chairman of deacons at the First Baptist of Carrolton, on the board of
adjustments for the city of Carrolton, as the president of the
Carrollton Lions Club and president of the Carrollton Chamber of
Commerce.
Jim was also very active the Masonic Lodge achieving the 32 degree
Scottish Rite for over 50 years.
Jim retired and he and his wife Ruby returned to their roots in Honey
Grove and settled on their farm in Honey Grove in 1985. Upon his return
Jim again became very active in his church and civic organizations
serving as Chairman of Deacons at the First Baptist Church, Honey Grove,
President of the Windom Lions club, a member of the Honey Grove chamber
of commerce and secretary/treasurer of the Honey Grove Golf Club for 14
years. He served as a District Grand Master for the Grand Lodge of
Texas, and as Worshipful Master of the Honey Grove Lodge in 1953 and
1988. He had an Endowed Life membership in the Honey Grove Lodge and was
also and Endowed member of the Scottish Rite Bodies He was also a member
of the Fannin Retired Teachers Assoc.. Jim was presented the Golden
Trowel Award by the Honey Grove Lodge #164 in June 2004. He was also
presented a certificate for 50 years of prefect attendance by the Windom
Lions Club.
Jim loved sports, especially golf. He shot a hole in one while playing
his favorite sport. Jim believed in being part of the community,
visiting with friends at the coffee shop and those that were sick, but
most of all he was a Christian.
Jim is survived by his wife Ruby Grace, one son, Stan and wife Joyce of
Plano, one sister Doris Martin of Carmichael, CA, one sister-in-law,
Neva Siebenthall of Honey Grove, Brother and sister-in-law Harvey and
Ruth Dockery, 10 nieces and 6 nephews. |
