Pierce Simpson

Patricia "Patty" Pierce Simpson, 70, passed away peacefully, surrounded
by her family, on Thursday, May 1, 2025, in Houston, Texas. She was born
in Dallas, Texas, on August 24, 1954, to John and Rosemary Pierce. Patty
was the third of their four children.
Patty graduated from R.L. Turner High School in the Carrollton-Farmers
Branch area in 1972. She went on to attend Sam Houston State University,
where she earned a Bachelor of Arts in Teaching with a minor in
Psychology in 1976. She later completed a Master’s Degree in Education
with a Counseling Certificate in 1979.
Her first teaching position was as a Psychology teacher at Conroe High
School, followed by a role at Eisenhower High School in Aldine ISD.
Patty ultimately retired in 2013 from Spring Branch ISD, where she
served as the Director of Human Resources.
During her daughters' school years, Patty took time off from her career
to focus on raising her family. She was also active in the Houston
Junior Forum, volunteered extensively within Spring Branch ISD-including
serving as SBISD Running for the Arts Chair and PTA President - and
coached numerous activities for her girls.
Patty is survived by her husband of 48 years, Thomas Benton Simpson III
of Houston, Texas; her daughters, Elizabeth Simpson Canfield and her
husband Kyle Canfield, and Lauren Simpson Amedee and her husband Eric
Amedee. She was affectionately known as Cakes to Luke Thomas Canfield,
Chase Kyle Canfield, Rose Elizabeth Canfield, and Hayes Benton Amedee.
She is also survived by her siblings: Laura Pierce Griffith (Lance) of
Lewisville, Texas; Mary K. Pierce Taylor (Phil) of Broomfield, Colorado;
and Mark Alan Pierce (Charm) of Tyler, Texas. She is deeply loved by
numerous nieces and nephews in Texas and Colorado.
A visitation will be held on Thursday, May 8, from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m.,
with a Rosary at 6:30 p.m., at Earthman’s at Hunters Creek, 8303 Katy
Freeway, Houston, TX 77024. A funeral Mass will be held on Friday, May
9, 2025 at 10:00 a.m. at St. Theresa Catholic Church, 6622 Haskell
Street, Houston, TX 77007, at 10:00, followed by a Celebration of Life
at the Houstonian, 111 North Post Oak Lane, Houston, TX 77024.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the St. Vincent de Paul
Society or the Houston Food Bank. |
