OBITUARY

Clyde E. Sims

Clyde E Sims, 90, of Denton, died Wednesday, July 4, 2007, at his home. He was born Feb. 28, 1917, in Collin County, Texas, to Ed and Beulah Bell (Brady) Sims. He was a graduate of Carrollton High School in 1936. He is a member of the First United Methodist Church of Denton, and is a retired Lt. Col. of the United States Air Force, (Army Air Corps) serving in World War II, the Korean War, and Viet Nam. He served 23 years and received the American Defense Service Metal, WWII Victory Medal, Korean Service Medal, United Nations Service Medal, Distinguished Flying Cross, and the US Air Force Medal with two Oak Clusters. He was retired from Dallas County Clerks Administration Office. He was married to Helen Baker on Feb. 19, 1946, in Savannah, Ga. She died in 1977. In 1980, he married Alta Ruth Farrell in Denton. She died in 2005.

A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. on Tuesday, July 10, 2007, at the Restland Abbey Mausoleum in Dallas, with Rev. Lisa Marshall officiating. He will be entombed with full Military Honors.

Mr. Sims is survived by a son, Clyde Randolph Sims of Wichita Falls; grandsons, Richard Earl Sims of Red Oak and Michael Dean Sims of Columbus, Ohio; and two great-grandsons. He was preceded in death by his parents; a twin brother, Clyde D. Sims; and sisters, Nellie Pratt and Francine Woodson.
