OBITUARY
Jim Skeen
DARDANELLE — Jimmy Floyd Skeen, 49, of New Blaine died Sunday, Feb. 26, 2012,
at North Logan Mercy Hospital.
He was born Aug. 24, 1962, in Farmers Branch, Texas, to Lee Skeen and Shirley
Atkins. He was head-custodian for the LISD and also worked for Skeen
Construction as a carpenter. He loved watching Texas sports teams, both
professional and college, playing knock-knock with Ethan and relaxing by the
pond with his dog Buddy.
He was preceded in death by his father, Lee Skeen; one brother,
Doyle Skeen; and
Jennifer Lee Winans.
Survivors include his wife, Laura Waltjen-Skeen of New Blaine; mother, Shirley
Skeen of Farmer Branch, Texas; one brother, Lenny and Cindy and Jason Skeen of
Farmers Branch, Texas; one daughter, Tosha Douglas and Damon and Ethan of Anna,
Texas; mother of his daughter, Jackie Johnson (Skeen) of Anna, Texas; Raynell
Jones (Skeen) of New York; extended family, Michael Dukovich and Dee and Alissa,
Pat and Jerry Winans, J.R. Metz, Bethany, Dougie and Junior, all of Ohio; and
Eric Jones of Wilkes-Barre, Pennsylvania.
Funeral services will be conducted at 2 p.m. Friday at Cornwell Chapel in
Dardanelle with Bro. Wylie Jones officiating. Burial will be in Elizabeth Hall
Cemetery in New Blaine. Blessing of the grave will be taken care of by David
Douglas. Visitation will be from 1-2 p.m. Friday at the chapel prior to the
service.
Pallbearers include Judd Hubbell, Derek Bradley, Bruce Bradley, Brandon Kreng,
John Farnam, Jason Skeen and Kevin Moore. Honorary pallbearers include all the
guys at the New Blaine VFW, Steve Ivey, Michael Williams and the crew at Burger
King.

A funeral service will be conducted at 2 p.m. Friday at Cornwell Chapel in
Dardanelle. Burial will be in Elizabeth Hall Cemetery in New Blaine. Visitation
will be from 1-2 p.m. Friday at the chapel prior to the service. A complete
obituary will be published in Thursday’s edition of The Courier.
