OBITUARY

Slattery, Shayne Marie (Stake)
May 21, 1952 - July 15, 2019

Slattery, Shayne Marie (Stake)
Shayne Marie Slattery, 67, left us to be with the Lord on July 15, 2019 in Dallas, Texas. She was born the oldest of three children on May 21, 1952 in Dallas, Texas to Elmer Richard Stake and Ruth Marie (Saunders) Stake. Shayne attended Ursuline Academy of Dallas and R. L. Turner High School until her senior year when the family moved to New Jersey where she graduated from West Milford High School. Shayne was heavily involved in acapella choir and theatre during high school, even landing a leading role in the musical Guys and Dolls her senior year.

She returned to Texas and continued to follow her love of music even after high school, singing and playing piano in a band that traveled and performed for some time. Music was always her passion, even in her final years. Shayne attended two years of college at TWU studying to become a nurse. She left to pursue other avenues but always loved the field and continued to study and read her whole life. She had a long career with FedEx as a distribution supervisor. Shayne married Gary Patrick Slattery on May 1, 1981 and was a hard-working mother who raised two boys Joshua and Spencer Slattery.

Shayne was an avid reader and loved to grow plants and flowers. You would always find her nurturing a new plant or starting a seedling. She enjoyed spending time with family and jamming to some good tunes, drinking that perfect cup of coffee and hanging around loved ones and friends. Those who knew her knew she could be feisty and bold when she wanted something, and she lived life her way! She was a deeply spiritual and intellectual person who loved learning about all aspects of the afterlife and of the universe. Shayne was a beloved mother, sister, friend, and beautiful soul who will be greatly missed. After a long struggle with her health she is finally at peace.

She is preceded in death by her mother and father and former husband, Gary Slattery. She is survived by her two sons, Joshua Slattery and wife Shay of Frisco, Texas and Spencer Slattery of Dallas, Texas; her brother and sister-in-law Pat and Debbie Stake and their children of Carrollton, Texas; her brother and sister-in-law Richard and Phyllis Stake and their children of Plano, Texas and her beloved cousin Sharon Kohout of Lubbock, Texas.
