Marsha K. Parrish-Smith

Marsha, Her Lord's Helpful Spirit

Marsha K. Parrish-Smith, 64, a resident of the Mineola and Tyler areas, died Saturday, the 2nd of September 2017, at the East Texas Medical Center in Tyler due to complications from pneumonia.

A memorial service will be held September 16 at 2 p.m. in the Mineola First Baptist Church Family Center with Dr. Mark Neeley officiating. The service will be a casual gathering, and coffee and cookies will be served.

Marsha also will be remembered at Our Savior's Lutheran Church in Tyler, Texas on September 17 at the 10 a.m. worship service with Pastor Mark Braaten officiating.

The University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center, Dallas, Texas has been entrusted with Marsha's remains for medical teaching and research. In lieu of floral tributes, memorials should be directed to local libraries, charities, or Our Savior's Lutheran Church, Tyler, Texas, 4900 Kinsey Dr., 75703, attention memorial fund.

Marsha was born in 1953 in Gladewater, Texas to B.A. and Grace Parrish. She is survived by husband, Grant Smith, of Mineola; mother, Grace Parrish, of Mineola; and brother, Michael Parrish, of Dallas. There were no children from the marriage. Nieces, nephews, grand nieces and grand nephews in Texas and Oklahoma were much loved by Marsha. Her life-long friend, Jill Witte, of Granbury, Texas, is a sister of heart and spirit. Marsha was preceded in death by her father, B.A. Parrish.
