OBITUARY
 
Fred E. Sonntag
November 13, 1941 - March 27, 2017

A funeral service for Fred E. Sonntag, age 75, of Jacksonville, is scheduled at 10 o’clock in the morning Thursday, March 30, 2017 at First United Methodist Church in Jacksonville with Rev. Doug Wintermute officiating. He will be laid to rest in Long Creek Cemetery in Sunnyvale, Texas. Services are under the direction of Autry Funeral Home in Jacksonville.
Mr. Sonntag passed away Monday, March 27, 2017 in Jacksonville.
Fred was born November 13, 1941 in Denton County, Texas to Benjamin and Tampa Feagins Sonntag.
He graduated with a Bachelor’s degree from the University of North Texas. Fred was the owner of North Town Tire and Auto in Jacksonville. He was the treasurer of Cherokee County Crime Stoppers Association and was associated with HOPE of Jacksonville. He was member of First United Methodist Church in Jacksonville.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his brothers, Kenneth, James and Donald; brothers-in-law, Bill McRae and Dr. Bart Lewis.
Left to cherish his memory is his beloved wife of 54 years Nancy Sonntag of Jacksonville; son, Ben Sonntag of Athens; daughters, Connie Sonntag Farrell and husband Ty of Malakoff, Lee Mata and husband Isaac of Flint; sisters, Mary McRae of Jacksonville, Shirley Lewis and husband John of The Colony. He is also survived by grandchildren, Rachael Ashley, Cheyenne Ramsey and Caleb Mata; step-granddaughter, Angela Ramsey and her children, Makenzie and Isaak; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Pallbearers will be Isaac Mata, Ty Farrell, Caleb Mata, Brice Jackson, Tim McRae, Kenneth Sonntag, Gary Childs and David Hanna.
Visitation will begin on Wednesday, March 29, 2017 and friends are cordially invited to visit with Fred’s family from 5 to 7 o’clock in the evening at Autry Funeral Home, Jacksonville.
Rather than customary condolences, donations may be made to First United Methodist Church, 1031 S.E. Loop 456, Jacksonville, Texas 75766.
