Sarah Bernice Scribner Wall Sorrells was born on February 1, 1924 in
Collin County, Texas to the late Jesse Jackson Scribner and Willie P.
Scribner. She passed away peacefully in her sleep at age 89 on August 3,
2013 in Hope Arkansas. Bernice, as she was better known, is survived by
her one sister, Nora Frances Snider of Mesquite, Texas, and by three
children, Scott Wall (Joanne), Lindell Wayne Sorrells (Jerettia), and
Hebbard James Sorrells (Brenda). She is also survived by her four
grandchildren, Marcia Lynn Wall, Travis James Wall, Jamie Lynne Ryckman,
and Sheri Lynn Grzeckowski; by four great-grandchildren, Caleb Scott
Wall, Jacob Alexander Morris, Ashley Grzeckowski, and Nicholas
Grzeckowski; and by numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in
death by her husband, James Elmer Sorrells; by two sisters, Evelyn Mae
Evans and Iva Louise Farley; and by two brothers, Jesse Milton Scribner
and Gerald Ray Scribner. Born and raised in Texas, Bernice moved to
Rosston, Arkansas in 1979 where she lived until taking residence at
Heather Manor in Hope, Arkansas in 2010. Loved by many, she was also
known to family members as Aunt Bernie and as Crazy Granny. Talkative
and friendly, Bernice was a colorful character who always had something
interesting to say. Her hobbies included fishing, camping, going to
garage sales, sitting on the porch, and visiting with friends. She
enjoyed watching the birds outside of her window and collecting wind
chimes and stuffed monkeys. She will be greatly missed by her family, by
her friends, and by her caretakers at Heather Manor. Graveside service
will be Wednesday, August 7, 2013 at 2:00 pm in Stoney Point Cemetery,
Melissa, Texas under the direction of Herndon-Pharr Funeral Home. |
