Carolyn Ruth Cox Standridge, a strong and beautiful woman, left our presence and walked into the arms of the angels on October 29, 2012. Carolyn was born July 24, 1935 in Liberty, Missouri, to Charles Bruce Cox and Ruth Marie Wahrenbrock Cox.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Tommy Standridge, and her grandson, Preston Standridge.
Carolyn is survived by her children, Gerry Standridge and wife, Debbie, Argyle, Texas; Stacy Standridge and wife, Suzie, Dallas, Texas; Andra Standridge Prince and husband, Dewitt, Rutherfordton, North Carolina; Melissa Standridge Werner and husband, Al, Arlington, Texas; grandchildren, Ben, Taylor, and Analissa Standridge; Clint Werner; Staton, Keaton, Riley, and Saxon Standridge; great-grandchildren, Cade, Shane, and Isabella; brother, Charles Cox and wife Joycelyn, Houston, Texas; and sister, Judi Cox Williams and husband Fred, Garland, Texas.

Carolyn graduated from Carrollton High School in 1953. She and her husband, Tommy Standridge, owned and operated Carrollton Insurance Agency for many years. Following Tommy's death in 1975, Carolyn served on Carrollton City Council for three terms and acted as Mayor Pro Tem for one term.

An avid sports fan, Carolyn loved watching athletes compete at all levels. She supported her sons as they played football and baseball in high school and college and enjoyed watching her daughters cheer. She was a faithful Arkansas Razorback follower and a loyal Dallas Cowboy fan.

Carolyn was an elegant and stylish woman. Many would be surprised to know that among her accomplishments, she listed helping her grandfather order 500 chicks from the Sears & Roebuck catalog. Remarks in her baby book indicated that Carolyn had a mind all her own, even as an infant. In her adult years, she was just as feisty and has been described as an independent woman who could, would, and did tell it like it is. She kept her head, heels, and standards high through all of life's adversities. Her family is happy to report that, following an arduous journey, Carolyn is safely home.
