OBITUARY Brenda Sue Collard Staton

Brenda Sue Collard Staton, 52, mother and devoted grandmother, passed away at
home after a courageous battle with cancer early Friday morning, June 6, 2008.
She was born to Charlie and Mildred Collard in Lawton, Okla., at Fort Sill Army
Base on March 10, 1956. She attended grade school at Valwood Elementary and high
school at R. L. Turner in Farmers Branch, Texas. She was united in marriage for
33 years to Jesse Douglas Staton. They were married April 19, 1975.
Brenda’s career began in insurance, where she worked for many years, before
moving to patient care 16 years ago. She continued working even after being
given her prognosis, up until weeks before her death.
Her survivors include husband Jesse (Doug); son James and wife Rebecca and their
daughter Charlene and husband Kevin; son Michael and wife and Stephenie; two
grandchildren, Anthony and Jessica; sisters Nancy, Debbie and Kathy; and her
best friend of many years, Sue Taylor.
She was preceded in death by her parents; brother Larry Collard; step-son Darren
Wayne Staton; and father- and mother-in-law, James D. and Jessie D. Staton.
The family will receive friends and relatives from 6-8 p.m. Tuesday at the Red
Oak Funeral Home. The celebration of Brenda’s Life will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday,
June 11, 2008, also at the funeral with interment at noon on Thursday, June 12,
2008, at the Norton Family Cemetery, Ardmore, Okla.
Arrangements are under the direction of the Red Oak Funeral Home.
