Leslie Ruth Brown Staton
An English As A Second Language And Reading Teacher In
Carrollton, Texas, Died Wednesday Of Cancer At Her Home. She Was 34. Mrs. Staton Was Born In El Dorado,
Ark., And Lived In The Hague, Netherlands, And Abilene, Texas, Before Moving To Carrollton. She
Graduated From Cooper High School And McMurry College, Both In Abilene. She Was Given An Award Of
Appreciation By The Carrollton School System And Was An Honorary Life Member Of The Texas Parent-
Teacher Association. She Was A Member Of Webb Chapel United Methodist Church And Its Volleyball Team.
Survivors Include Her Husband, Robert Harding Staton III; Two Sons, Kirwen And Robert Staton Iv; Her
Parents, Joy And John Kirwen Brown Of Slidell; A Sister, Renee Brown Combs; And Her Grandparents, Bill
And Lorena Shaver And Kirwen And Gladys Brown, All Of Coushatta. A Memorial Service Will Be Held Today
At 11 A.M. At Webb Chapel United Methodist Church In Farmers Branch, Texas. Burial Will Be In Hilltop
Cemetery
In Carrollton. Metrocrest Funeral Home In Carrollton Is In Charge Of Arrangements.
