OBITUARY
Walter Lee Stephens
Walter Lee Stephens was born November 15, 1939 to
Clarence Stephens and Juanita Burden. Walter spent a significant portion
of his childhood with his grandparents Henry and Rosalee Burden, and Ed
and Mittie Belle Stephens. He graduated high school from Carrollton,
Texas in 1959. After graduating he joined the Marine Corps, where he
proudly served 8 years. Later he was a detective for the Carrollton
Police Department, then a Deputy Sheriff for Dallas County. He was a
City Councilman and volunteer fireman in Seagoville, Texas. He retired
from American Motors/Jeep in 1988, where he oversaw service departments
in Texas, Oklahoma, Louisiana, Arkansas and New Mexico. He took pride in
raising his cows. Walter also loved spending time with his family and
friends. He passed away April 6, 2016 at home. He was preceded in death
by both his parents, brothers Freddy and Russell Burden, and
brother-in-law Brent Ledgerwood. He is survived by his wife Lynda Price
Stephens, sisters Janie Jones and husband Joe, Joan Ledgerwood, Ruby
Alexander and husband Wayne, children Stephanie Stephens, Jaci Taylor,
Mike Stephens and wife Kristie, and Kathy Cortez. Grandchildren Danna
Taylor, Jolee Taylor, Shiloah Hale and husband Scott, Matthew Stephens,
Casey Cortez and wife Kelly, Kyle Cortez and wife Maddie, Zach Cortez,
and Logan Cortez. Great grandchildren Addie Cortez and Titus Cortez.
Nieces Kristie Heddin, Keesha Licorish and nephew Eric Heddin, as well
as numerous aunts, uncles, cousins and friends. |
