Bruce Allen Stewart
March 22, 1946 - December 7, 2024

Funeral services for Bruce Allen Stewart, age 78, of Canton, Texas, will be held at 11:00am on Thursday, December 19, 2024, at Eubank Funeral Home in Canton, with his beloved friends, Mr. Al Pierce and Mr. Mack White officiating. Military honors will follow at 2:00pm at the DFW National Cemetery.

Mr. Stewart passed away on December 7, 2024, in Dallas, Texas. He was born on March 22, 1946, in Dallas to Allen William Stewart and Edith Mae Stewart.

Bruce grew up in Farmer’s Branch and Carrollton and graduated from R.L. Turner High School in 1964. He proudly served his country as a paratrooper in the United States Army during the Vietnam War from 1965 to 1968, where he was awarded three Bronze Stars, a Purple Heart, and numerous other medals for his valor and service.

In his professional life, Bruce worked for Ford Motor Company, retiring after a distinguished career of over 35 years that included roles as a Union Representative and Inventory Clerk. Outside of work, Bruce’s interests and talents were vast and varied. He was an accomplished bull rider, HAM radio operator, RC plane enthusiast, and Golden Gloves boxer. He also pursued acting, performing in local theater and television shows, and was a Wild West performer at Six Flags. Bruce was a self-taught musician and had a lifelong passion for learning. He was a member of the Screen Actors Guild and a Free Mason.

An avid outdoorsman, Bruce loved hunting, fishing, and gardening. His intellectual curiosity extended to politics, history, and science, with a particular fascination for astronomy. Few things in life escaped his interest, and even fewer did not spark his enthusiasm or expertise.

Bruce was preceded in death by his parents, Allen and Edith Stewart, and his brother, Finley Stewart. He is survived by his beloved wife of over 46 years, Brenda M. Stewart; three daughters: Sundey McClendon and husband Mike, Molly Stewart and husband Elias Medina, and Kelly Cohen; six grandchildren: Anderson, Hayden, Harper, Micaela, Camden, and Cruz; two sisters, Sondra Martinez and husband Jacobo, and Janis Stewart; brother, Keith Stewart and wife Paula; and numerous nieces, nephews, and extended family members.

Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service at Eubank Funeral Home in Canton, Texas.
