OBITUARY Rites today for
Dallas teacher Allen Stockslager
Services for Allen Stockslager , a Dallas teacher, will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday
at Rhoton Funeral Home in Carrollton. Burial will follow at
Furneaux Cemetery in
Carrollton.
Mr. Stockslager, 54, died of a heart attack Sunday at his Carrollton home.
He taught history at Adamson High School this fall and had been an English and
history teacher at Holmes Middle School, South Oak Cliff High School and the
Business and Management Center magnet high school since 1985.
Mr. Stockslager loved literature and history, said his wife, Susan. "I never
liked that in school, but he would read history books for fun."
Mr. Stockslager taught from 1967 to 1969 in LaMarque, Texas, then worked for a
bank in Seattle for a time. He returned to North Texas in 1982 and taught at
Pottsboro and Lone Oak before moving to Dallas.
On weekends, he ran a stamp and sports trading card booth at the Lone Star
Bazaar, an indoor flea market in Garland.
In addition to his wife, survivors include son Thomas Stockslager of Carrollton;
daughter Sally Stockslager of Carrollton; mother Dorothy Stockslager of Sherman;
and brothers David Stockslager of Terrell and Thomas Stockslager and Michael
Stockslager, both of Sherman.
