Archie Glen Thompson
Archie Glen Thompson passed from this life after a lengthy illness on
February 22, 2011 into the hands of his heavenly father. He will join his
parents, family members and numerous friends that have gone before. Born
January 24, 1934 to Trucmon and Louella Thompson in Coppell, Texas and he had
one brother Jerry Wayne Thompson.
Archie married his high school sweetheart Barbara Lee on June 28, 1953 in the
Methodist Church of Carrollton, Texas. Their first daughter Teresa Louise
was born in January 19, 1955 and lives in Bryan, TX with her husband Robert
Bass. Son David Glen Thompson born June 13, 1958 and lives with wife Gigi
in Troy, TX. Second daughter Cheryl Sanders was born December 12, 1960 and also
lives in Troy, TX with husband Ricky Sanders.
He was a strong Christian and belonged to Troy United Methodist where he was
actively involved until diabetes and dialysis took a toll on his body.
Archie had worked in the fire equipment business for many years. Moving to Troy,
Texas from Houston in 1978 he purchased American Fire & Safety Inc. in Temple
Texas with a second location in Bryan, TX. He loved his company and believed in
honesty with clients and fairness with his employees.
Over the years he has provided careers for all of his children, several
grandchildren, and may other families. Archie was CEO at the time of his death.
He is survived by wife Barbara, 2 daughters, Teresa and Cheryl, son David, 7
grandchildren, Jeremy, Shannon, Leah, Melissa, Shawn, Lori, and Glen, 5 great
grandchildren, Christopher, Dallas, David, Avery, and Alyssa, brother Jerry and
his wife Ruth of Ft. Worth, TX who will provide the organ music during
visitation, many nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Visitation and viewing will be at Harper Talesek Funeral Home of Temple, TX
Monday February 28, 2011 at 9:30am. Memorial services will follow at
10:30am at same location. Services will be conducted by Re3verend Kissa Vaughn
of Troy United Methodist church and Reverend Susan Grittman of First United
Methodist Church of Conroe, Texas who is a niece of Archie's. Family members
will attend a private burial at Hillcrest Cemetery following services. |
