Natalie
Ruth Thompson
April 11, 1930 - February 26, 2024
April 1, 1930 Natalie Ruth Thompson was born on April 11th 1930 to Ben
and Virginia Ellenberger in Youngstown, Ohio.
Natalie had two older siblings, Jack and Edith. Natalie's father Ben
passed away unexpectedly in 1943. At that time the family was living in
Dallas, TX on S. Montreal St. After graduating Sunset High School in
1947, Natalie went to work for Texas Employers Insurance. It was there
that she met a man 11 years her senior, James Thompson, who doggedly
pursued her, much to her mother's chagrin. James and Natalie were
married on June 3rd 1949. Jay and Natalie had 5 children – Steve (wife
Mary), Eileen (husband Ron), Jeff (wife Lauri), Brian (wife Laurie), and
John (wife Candy). After a long career as a stay at home mother, Natalie
returned to the work place in the 1970's. She spent the next 30+ years
as bookkeeper/office manager for Barshell, Inc. and Jim Miller
Properties. After 55 years of marriage, her husband James passed away on
12/31/2004.
The subsequent years were spent with family and Natalie especially loved
spending time with her grandchildren – Jenny, Jackie, Jay, Mark, Kyle,
Zach, Chris, Mike, Samantha, Blake, Scott, and Julie, as well as her 9
great grandchildren – Parker, Brooks, Jack, Ava, Gavin, Kyla, Alix,
Braxton, and Ivy. Natalie also loved family game nights and playing
bridge with her friends at Carrollton Senior Center, which she continued
to do until shortly before her death. Natalie passed away peacefully
surrounded by her loved ones on February 26th 2024. She will be missed
by all.
