Nellie
Gray
Thompson, 90, of Hamilton, Texas and
a resident of the Dallas area
for many years, died in Hamilton,
Wednesday, June 8th following an extended
illness. Nellie
was the daughter of Houston and
Verdie May Blair Hill and was born April 17,
1921 in Dallas. She had moved to Hamilton
from Lamkin, Texas 12 years ago.
She was a baker and loved to cook and bake
and she had been a member of the Northwest
Baptist Church in Dallas.
Preceded in death by her husband Robert Lee
Long, Sr. in 1951, she later married William
Franklin
Thompson who also preceded her in
death in 1986. A son, Robert Lee Long, Jr.
also preceded her in death in 2010 as did a
daughter, Charlotte Calvery who died in
1993.
Survivors include her sons, Donnie Ray Long
of Arlington, TX, and Jimmy Dale Long of Ben
Franklin, TX and a daughter, Verda Carson of
Lamkin, TX.
Preceded in death by a step-son, Franklin
Earl
Thompson in 2001, Nellie
is also survived by a Step-daughter
Shirley Sue Gomez of Highland Village, three
step-sons, Benjie Lee
Thompson of Cisco, TX, Danny J.
Thompson of Grand Saline, TX, and
Ronnie Ray
Thompson of Pritchett, TX.
Also surviving is a legacy of grandchildren,
great grandchildren and great, great
grandchildren.
Visitation will be at the Rhoton Funeral
Home on Sunday, June 12th from 8 a.m. until
2 p.m. at which time funeral services will
be conducted. Officiating will be Daniel
Calwell and burial will follow in the
Furneaux Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be Larry Story, Jeremy
Calvery, T.J. Carson, James McMillan, Bobby
J. Carson and Dan Carson.
