Classmate Shoots Boy Accidentally

A Carrollton schoolboy was shot by a classmate Thursday afternoon as six young rabbit hunters clowned with an "unloaded" rifle. Donald Townley, 14, was sped in very serious condition to Methodist Hospital after the accident with a .22-caliber slug through his chest near the heart.
Sheriff's Detective H. E. McHugh said that Townley and five other sophomores decided to hunt rabbits after classes at Carrollton High School.   They went with a 15-year-old boy to his home to get a rifle. Bringing the "unloaded" rifle into the yard, the youth shouted a mock warning, aimed at Townley and pulled the trigger.
The gun fired.
