JOHN ELVIS TRACY ENLISTS IN MARINES
John Elvis Tracy, son of Mr. and Mrs. Henry Tracy of Farmers Branch, left Monday, Feb. 1, for San Diego, Calif. Marine Corps base where he will be stationed for 15 weeks training. Tracy signed up for 3 years.

OBITUARY
 

John Elvis Tracy
Jan 22, 1936 - Sept 28, 2008

John Elvis Tracy, age 72, of Sulphur Springs, passed away in the early morning hours of Sunday, September 28, 2008 at his home. Mr. Tracy was born in Farmers Branch, Texas on January 22, 1936 to John Henry and Ednah Burnett Tracy.

Upon completion of grade school, Mr. Tracy served two terms in the U.S. military. He first served in the U.S. Marine Corps where he was a POW in Korea and then in the U.S. Army. After the military, John spent nearly 40 years in the transportation industry as a truck driver. He was also a member of the American Legion and the Lewisville Post of the VFW.

Mr. Tracy is survived by his wife of one year, Christine Tracy; one son, Chris Tracy, and wife Blanca, of Oklahoma City, OK; two daughters, Donna Pendleton, and husband Andy, of Dike, TX, and Fonza Mason, and husband Billy, of Muskogee, OK; three step-daughters; one brother, Sammy Tracy of Winnesboro, TX; two sisters, Mary Crone, and husband Wyley, of Rhonesboro, TX, and Cecelia Houser, and husband Milton, of Lewisville, TX; grandchildren, Jose, John, Glenda, Jessie, Jackie and Mary Ann Tracy, Amber and Jason Newell, and Bailey and Bradley Mason; eight step-grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren, Brennon, Lynox, and Mia. He was preceded in death by his parents and two sisters, Margaret Sue Clark and Fonza Skipworth.

Services for Mr. Tracy will be held at 10:00 A.M., Wednesday, October 1, 2008 at Tapp Funeral Home with Rev. Ray Hartline officiating. Burial will follow at 1:30 P.M. at DFW National Cemetery. Visitation was Tuesday, September 30, 2008 at Tapp Funeral Home.
