Mary
Trimble Obituary
In loving memory of Mary Mitchell Trimble, a truly remarkable, kind,
generous and vibrant spirit who touched the lives of so many people and
animals all over the world with her uncanny ability to make each person
feel as if they were the most important person to her. Mary was born on
November 8, 1945 in Dallas, Texas to Dr. John and Honore Mitchell. The
family moved to Carrollton where Mary became friends, over the years,
with her beloved "Steel Magnolias". Together, they developed a lifetime
of memories, all of which Mary played a significant role as a gracious
host and curator of special moments. Along with the children and
grandchildren of "The Steel's", they have been Mary's chosen family and
we should all be so lucky to have even one friend like these ladies.
Throughout her life Mary had countless endearing friendships with people
who consider themselves as blessed to have been part of Mary's life as
she was of theirs. Mary was blessed with numerous cousins. Her Oklahoma
family was a central part of her life. Ever the consummate and gracious
host, Mary often gathered her cousins in her beloved Ruidoso and at her
home in Dallas to continue curating moments and memories that will be
cherished. Her flair for entertaining will always be remembered among
her 13 cousins, and over the years, as they added to their families,
Mary was instrumental in ensuring they gathered together to celebrate
special holidays and notable milestones. Mary's Texas family formed when
she married the love of her life, Robert "Skip" Trimble in 1978, who
preceded her in death. Mary was blessed with in-laws, a niece, nephews
and their children and grandchildren. Collectively, they all were
recipients of Mary's ability to curate special moments and memories.
They traveled with Mary from Africa and Alaska, to the Galapagos Islands
and Australia, to name a few. Incredible times both in Dallas and in
Ruidoso will always hold special places in their hearts and her presence
in their lives will be missed beyond words. Mary was instrumental during
the formative years of her cherished Holy Covenant United Methodist
Church. Over the years, she sat on or chaired every committee and was a
central figure from the smallest event to the largest. Although very
private, Mary was always an advocate for the underdog and would
willingly share her spirited and passionate beliefs, always with a
humble and loving heart. She was an initiator of action, adding her own
special brand of zest to spread the message of the church from the long
time members, first time visitors, youth and even outside the walls of
the church. Alleluia, Mary! In addition to the lasting memories Mary
helped create for friends, family and church family, her love extended
to animals across the globe. Her contributions to animal welfare have
been recognized nationally, and have included, among many, Equest
Therapeutic Horsemanship, Animal Protection Institute, Born Free and the
Born Free Primate Sanctuary in South Texas, which was her passion for
decades. Mary traveled the world with Skip and every adventure included
animals in some capacity. Mary left our lives on December 15, 2023 much
as she lived her life. Peacefully, gracefully and quietly. Shalom, Mary.
A memorial service for Mary Mitchell Trimble will be held at Holy
Covenant United Methodist Church (1901 E. Peters Colony in Carrollton)
on Friday, February 9 at 1:00 pm. In lieu of flowers, the family
requests donations to Born Free USA, Humane Society of Lincoln County,
Ruidoso, NM , Holy Covenant United Methodist Church or a non-profit
organization of your choosing.
