Mr. Donnie Ray "Don" Tuttle
July 12, 1935 - April 10, 2017Funeral services for Mr. Donnie
Ray "Don" Tuttle, 81, of Henderson will be held at 2:00 pm Saturday,
April 15, 2017 at Crawford-A. Crim Funeral Home chapel with Dr. David
Higgs officiating. Interment will follow at Salem Cemetery under the
direction of Crawford-A. Crim Funeral Home.
Visitation will be from 1:00 pm to service time on Saturday at the
funeral home.
Mr. Tuttle passed away Monday, April 10, 2017 at Autumn Leaves in
Henderson. He was born July 12, 1935 to the late Andrew Bryan and Gladys
Fousel Tuttle. He worked for Midland ISD as a teacher at Midland High
School. Mr. Tuttle was a teacher and a counselor at Robert E. Lee High
School in the Tyler ISD. He then worked as a Registrar for Navarro Jr.
College in Corsicana. He held several positions with the
Carrollton/Farmers Branch ISD including serving as vice principal at
Newman Smith High School, Blalack Jr. High School, Vivian Field Jr. High
School, and served as principal for DeWitt Perry Jr. High School. Mr.
Tuttle then served the Price/Carlisle ISD as the K-8 grade principal,
and it was from here that he retired to be an entrepreneur of
collectables and gunsmithing. He served his country in the Army National
Guard during the Cuban Missle Crisis. Mr. Tuttle was also a Deacon of
First Baptist Church of Henderson.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Andrew Bryan and Gladys Fousel
Tuttle; and four siblings, Andrew Tuttle, Juanita "Rudene" Mercer,
Karlena Jackson Bishop, and Joe Erich Tuttle.
Survivors include: wife of 54 years, Polly Tuttle of Henderson;
children, Tracy Steitz and husband Bobby of Carrollton, Todd Tuttle and
wife Cicely of Colleyville; brother, Carlos Tuttle of Tulsa, OK;
sisters, Virginia Graham of Carthage, June Gilstrap of Overton; and
grandchildren, Jordon Anthony Tuttle, and Justin Davis Tuttle.
Pallbearers will be Paul Jackson, Mack Gilstrap, Lonnie Gilstrap, Deron
Dacus, Ty Jackson, Jake Jackson, Randal Johnson, Grant Steitz, and
Grayson Steitz.
In lieu of flowers, memorials can be made to the First Baptist Church
Children's Building Fund, 207 West Main Street, Henderson, TX, 75652.
