OBITUARY WILL WALKER
Will Walker of Lake Dallas, and formerly of Plano, died Monday, Sept. 17, 2007.
A memorial service was conducted in Lake Dallas at the Lake Shore Baptist
Church.
He was born on March 25, 1944, in Dallas. He graduated from Carrollton High
School (R.L. Turner) in 1962. He attended Baylor University where he received a
B.A. in business in 1967, and he later received a master’s in entrepreneurial
studies from Texas A&M. He played football for the Baylor Bears and then was
drafted by the San Francisco 49er’s. However, he chose to pursue a career in
business.
Recently, he was honored by a contribution to the Baylor Bear Foundation by the
Louis and Eugenia Pittard Family recognizing his contribution as a Baylor
athlete. This program is a part of the Locker Room Legacy program that was
initiated at Baylor a few years ago. To honor Will, an engraved plate with his
name and jersey number 83 was installed in the football locker room at Floyd
Casey Stadium on the locker bearing that same number. Future players wearing the
number 83 will be reminded of their football heritage.
In 1998, Will was diagnosed with lung cancer. He participated in many clinical
trials over the years, and finally, he gave his body to the Willed Body Program
at UT Southwestern Medical School for lung cancer research.
He is survived by his wife Donna (Binford) Tupman Walker, a native of
Gainesville; daughter, Katherine Whitney Walker of Chicago, Ill.; son and
daughter by marriage, Keith Tupman and wife, Kathleen of Shanghai, China, and
Kathy Wensel and her husband, Craig of Flower Mound; brother-in-law, Dwaine
Binford and his wife, Bettie; and sister-in-law, Lorna Goin and her husband,
Paul of Marysville; five grandchildren; and two great-grandsons.
