OBITUARY

Gerald Truett "Jerry" Waters
1933 - 2013

Waters, Gerald "Jerry" Truett "Papa Jerry" Jerry Waters was taken from us on Sunday, June 30, 2013. He was born 79 years ago in Dallas, Texas, on August 27, 1933. Jerry received his Bachelor's Degree from North Texas State University before receiving his Law Degree from the University of Texas at Austin. Subsequent to graduating from the UT Law School, Jerry returned to Dallas to begin what was to become a very successful law practice. After time, he left the practice of law to embark on a more spiritual path, one that shaped the rest of his life. Jerry is survived by two children: Lisa Waters Bailey and her husband Jackson, of Dallas, Texas; and Gerald "Tru" Truett Waters Jr. and his wife Lisa, of McKinney, Texas. He was preceded in death by his youngest daughter, Cynthia Maria Waters Lancaster. Jerry is also survived by five grandchildren: Addison and Kyle Lancaster, of Plano, Texas; Stevie and Brennen Waters, of McKinney, Texas; and Kristin Adcock and her husband Michael, of Saginaw, Texas. He also leaves behind three great-grandchildren: Trey Daniel, of Grapevine, Texas; and Devin and Sydnee Adcock, of Saginaw, Texas. Ageless spirit Timeless soul We miss you. We know you don't want us to mourn, but we do. Intensely. Our hearts are broken because we were supposed to be with you much longer, yet even that would have seemed like too short a time. You see? It's about us. It's about us because of the love, joy, and peace you brought into each of our lives. You truly lived your life on your own terms and always encouraged us to do the same. Whether it was on the beaches of Koh Phangan, Thailand or rounding the curve on "The Tail of the Dragon" in North Carolina, you were living with a passion that brought us incredible delight. As much as you did by example, you were also intent on sharing the wonderful lessons you learned from looking so deeply inside yourself. The first manifestation of this was the children's book Arabella and the Magic Mirror and continued on through many more books until the final one, Secrets of the Game. You next brought your knowledge to the human level through counseling. We hope you are now able to see the incredible number of people whose lives you touched. As one of your grandchildren said, "If you knew Papa Jerry, you were a better person." The movie. Maybe we weren't all that surprised when you one day announced that you were writing a screenplay and were going to make a movie, because you had always been so intent on sharing those wonderful lessons you learned. You did it. You came to earth from a place of profound unconditional love. You were scared to come here, but you did anyway because you wanted to experience all the lessons of life on earth, and to experience what it's like to love others while in this human body. And you did. Along the way, you got stuck just like we all do, but you learned and grew and practiced and listened until you learned the secrets this life has to offer and you knew great joy and then you shared what you learned with all of us in your books and in your actions. Thanks to you, we got it.... We knew you as so many things: Father. Father-in-Law. Grandfather. Great Grandfather. Friend. Longhorn. Author. Healer. Spiritual Advisor. Filmmaker. Attorney. Oil man. World traveler. Golfer. Motorcyclist. Dancer. Thunder Buddy. You were all these things and so much more. We miss you terribly
