OBITUARY
John W. Watts, 59, Retired Cattleman, Dies After Illness
John W. Watts, 59, retired cattleman and farmer of Carrollton, died Wednesday
at his Dallas home after a long illness. He lived at 7511 Prosper.
A native of Oklahoma, Watts was brought to Texas by his family when he was a
young boy. He moved to Dallas County and settled between Hebron and Carrollton
in 1921.
He was a deacon of the First Baptist Church of Carrollton, a member of the James
A. Smith Masonic Lodge of Farmers Branch and a former member of the school board
of Hebron.
Watts is survived by his wife; two sons, Dewey Watts of Garland and Lee Watts of
Dallas; a daughter, Mrs. S. C. Jones of Dallas, and two grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Thursday at the First Baptist Church of
Carrollton. Burial with Masonic rites will be in Old Hill Cemetery, about a mile
from his old homesite near Hebron.

by wife: two sons, Lee and Dewey Watts; daughter, Mrs. S. C. Jones; two
grandchildren, all of Dallas. Funeral services Thursday, 10 a.m., Carrollton
First Baptist Church, with Rev. L. M. Joines officiating. Interment in
Cemetery Hill, James A. Smith
Lodge No 395 AF&AM, will have service at cemetery. Arrangements Rhoton Funeral
Home, Carrollton.
