OBITUARY

Glenda "Jean" Webber
Saturday, January 12th, 2019

Glenda Jean Webber was born on September 21, 1947, in Dallas, Texas, at Parkland Memorial Hospital. Jean lived a full life that took her to many places and shared experiences. She could always make an easy friend with her charm and smile. Jean was surrounded by her 3 children at her home in Arlington, Texas, when she passed away on January 12, 2019, at the age of 71.
Her parents, Edith “Peggy” Parker and Lee O’Neal were neighbors and schoolmates around the town of Athens, Texas, who married shortly after Peggy finished school. Together they had Jean and her older brother Billy. Upon Peggy’s second marriage to Melvin “Mel” Morefield, they became a military family. Mel adopted Billy and Jean and soon they welcomed their younger sister Debby into the family. Together they grew up on military bases in Maine, Texas, Okinawa and Missouri.
Jean’s early high school years were spent in Knob Nobster, Missouri, where she was active in the pep squad and theater. Soon, however, Mel retired from the Air Force and moved the family back to Texas during Jean’s senior year in high school. The family lived in Carrollton, Texas, where Jean graduated from R. L. Turner High School.
Jean entered the work force right after high school. She held various secretarial roles, including a prestigious job at Vought Aerospace, later LTV, where she met her husband Rob Roy and married in 1969. She also worked for the Pioneer Corporation. Rob and Jean bought a home in Arlington, Texas, and welcomed their first child Ryan Roy together in July 1974. Rob’s work as an engineer took them to Virginia and then to California. Jean’s marriage with Rob eventually ended and she and Ryan moved to Ventura, California, soon thereafter.
While in Ventura, Jean met a geologist named Kurt Webber. Jean grew homesick during this time and decided to move back to her family in Texas, driving back with then 2-year-old Ryan in her 1969 Corvette. Kurt decided to help her move and wound up moving to Texas as well. Kurt and Jean married in October 1977 in Arlington, Texas, and started a new family.
Jean enjoyed spending time with friends and family, dancing, listening to country music and staying on top of the latest fashions. Jean, Kurt and Ryan later welcomed Kendall, born in 1984, and Kolton, born in 1989, into the family as well. They lived in Arlington and Fort Worth.
Jean is survived by her three children Ryan Roy, Kendall Pender, and Kolton Webber. A brother, Billy O’Neal, and sister, Debby Burton. Jean is survived by five grandchildren: Savanah, Catalina and Aiden Roy, and Kaela and Klaire Pender.
