OBITUARY
Arthur E.
Weiss
August 2, 1935 ~ March 2, 2023 (age 87)
Teacher, Tennis Coach and Fishing Guide, Arthur (Art) E. Weiss passed on
March 2, 2023. Art was 87.
Art was born on August 2, 1935 to Dr. Victor J. and Mabel Weiss in San
Antonio, Texas. Art graduated from Brackenridge High School in San
Antonio, Texas in 1954. He went on to graduate from Abilene Christian
College with a BS in Education in 1963. In 1965, Art obtained his
Masters of Physical Education from Baylor University in Waco, Texas. Art
was an educator and coach at several Texas High Schools during his
career including RL Turner in Carrollton, Texas (1965 - 1982), Rockport
High School in Rockport, Texas (1982 - 1987), and Tuloso Midway High
School in Corpus Christi, Texas (1987 - 1992). Art was married to Betty
Jane Perkinson (deceased) in 1965. Art also served in the United States
Marine Corps from 1955 - 1959.
After retirement, Art was able to dedicate all of his time and passion
to recreational fishing in the Coastal Bend. This pastime became a
second career where on any given morning Art could be seen leaving
Woody's in Port Aransas or Hamptom's in Aransas Pass with clientele.
While working as a finshing guide, Art was able to support charitable
fishing benefits including the Driscoll Children's Hospital, Chem-Kids
Fishoff and others.
Art is survived by his son and daughter-in-law, Brad and Prescha of
Corpus Christi, Texas; Prescha's son, Seth of West, Texas; his niece
Pamela and his sister-in-law Mary Jane. |

Arthur
E. Weiss
August 2, 1935 - March 2, 2023Arthur E. Weiss, a
twenty-seven-year resident of Aransas Pass, passed away on March 2,
2023.
Arthur was born on August 2, 1935, in San Antonio, Texas and attended
Brackenridge High School in San Antonio, Texas. He graduated from
Abilene Christian University and Baylor University, where he received
his master's degree.
Arthur was a United States Marine and served from 1955 – 1959. He had a
successful career as a teacher and tennis coach. He spent sixteen years
at Turner High School in Carrollton, Texas, five years at Rockport High
School, in Rockport, Texas and his last five years at Tuloso Midway High
School in Corpus Christi, Texas.
He was inducted into the Texas Tennis Coaches Association Hall of Fame
in 1992. Arthur retired in 1991 and enjoyed his time being a fishing
guide on the Texas Coast for almost twenty years.
Arthur is survived by is son James Bradley Weiss and daughter-in-law
Prescha, his niece Pam Weiss and sister-in-law Mary Jane Weiss. |
