OBITUARY
WILDER
DONALD LAYNE, age 36, was a native born and raised in Dallas, Texas. Born
January 20, 1958, Don passed away on December 15, 1994 in an automobile
accident. Don has served in the hotel industry throughout Texas for the past 16
years. He was currently the Director of Catering and Conference Services for the
Omni Mandalay Hotel in Las Colinas. Don was extremely active with various
charitable organizations in Dallas. He was also an active member of N.A.C.E.
(National Association of Catering Executives). Don was a wine connoisseur and
enjoyed all the finer things in life. His favorite song was "Don't Let The Sun
Go Down On Me." Don brightened everyone's lives by always finding the good in
things. He often was heard singing aloud and had a wonderful way of making
people laugh when times were tough. After a long and difficult day after work,
before departing for home, don was seen getting a drink of water for an
exhausted bird sitting outside. He then commented "This bird has had a hard
day." Don was survived by his mother, Gladys E. Wilder, Farmers Branch; sister,
Sherry L. Maffia, Waco; brother, Billy C. Wilder, Farmers Branch; nieces,
Jennifer Lori Maffia, Stacy Ann Maffia. Don was preceded in death by his father,
Charles W. Wilder. Left to cherish his memories with his family are Roger Bolen,
Michael Daab, Bill and Charlotte Thompson, Rhonda and Clayton Shannon, Peter and
Patti Strebel, all his friends at the Omni Mandalay Hotel and his faithful dog,
Buster. memorial Services will be held at 2:30 p.m. Sunday, December 18, 1994 at
SPARKMAN-HILLCREST NORTHWEST HIGHWAY CHAPEL (214) 363-5401. A memorial of your
choice may be made in memory of Don Wilder.
