Leading Our Youth

Mrs. Ollie Ann Williams, <??> has been with the local school system for 21 years, is head of homemaking department at R. L. Turner High School.
Mrs. Williams became head of the department when it was created. "The area supervisor wanted a promise from me that I would stay if she created the job," Mrs. Williams said, "The first department consisted of four walls and girls."
A member of the First Baptist church of Carrollton, Mrs. Williams lists her hobbies as cooking and sewing.
She earned her bachelor of science and master of science degrees from North Texas State University in Denton.
Her son, Dr. J. R. Williams, Jr., practices medicine in Garland and Dallas. She has two teenage grandchildren, a boy and a girl, who attend school in Richardson.

WILLIAMS
OLLIE ANN, 89, Farmers Branch, TX, passed away June 21, 1993 at Presbyterian Hospital, Dallas, TX. Mrs. Williams was born in Mosheim, TX, on May  15, 1904. Mrs. Williams had been a teacher with the Carrollton-Farmers Branch ISD for 45 years. Preceded in death by husband, John Riley Williams, Sr., and son, Dr. J. R. Williams, Jr. Survived by grandson and wife, Worth Riley and Dana Williams, Dallas, TX; granddaughter, Julienne Williams, Preston, WA; great granddaughter, Whitney Ann Williams; niece, Patsy Jay Miller, Houston; nephew, Joe Jeff Richards, Belton. Services 10 A.M. Wednesday, June 23, 1993 at RHOTON CHAPEL, Rev. Paul Morell officiating. Graveside services to follow at 2 P.M., Valley Mills Cemetery, Valley Mills, TX. Rev. Ronny Barnett officiating. Family will receive friends at the funeral home, Tuesday, June 22, 1993, 7 P.M. until 8:30 P.M. OBITUARY

Rites today for Ollie Ann Williams

Services for Ollie Ann Williams, a former high school home economics teacher, will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday at Rhoton Chapel in Carrollton.
Mrs. Williams, 89, died of complications from a stroke Monday at Walnut Place nursing home in Dallas.
The Mosheim, Texas, native graduated from what is now the University of North Texas in Denton with a master's degree in home economics, returning to the Valley Mills-Mosheim area to teach.
She later taught in the Grapevine school district before moving to Carrollton-Farmers Branch schools, where she taught for 24 years.
"They called the the 'white-glove teacher' because everything had to be immaculate," said her granddaughter-in-law, Dana Williams. "I never knew that about her, but I did find a big box of gloves."
Other survivors include a grandson, Worth Riley Williams of Dallas.

VALLEY MILLS - Ollie Ann Williams of Farmers Branch, a teacher, died Monday at a Dallas Hospital. She was 89.
Services will be 10 a.m. today at Rhoton Funeral Home Chapel in Carrollton, the Rev. Paul Morell officiating. Graveside services will be 2 p.m. at Valley Mills Cemetery in Valley Mills, the Rev. Ronny Barnett officiating.
Mrs. Williams born May 15, 1904, in Mosheim. She was a teacher for Carrollton-Farmers Branch ISD for 45 years. Her husband, John Riley Williams Sr., and a son, J. R. Williams, preceded her in death.
Survivors include a grandson, Worthy Riley of Dallas; a grand-daughter, Julienne Williams of Preston, Wash.; a great-grand-daughter; a niece; a nephew.
Memorial may be made to the Williams Scholarship Fund, in care of the National Bank, Beltline Road and Josey Lane, Carrollton 75006
