Andres Wlasiuk
March 5, 1939 - October 10, 2013
Surrounded by his loving family, our beloved Andres Wlasiuk went
home on Thursday, October 10, 2013 from his home in Plano, Texas after
bravely facing pancreatic cancer. He was 74. The eldest of seven
children, he was born March 5, 1939 to Basilio and Maria Wlasiuk in
Paraguay. Upon graduating high school, he served for two years in the
Paraguayan Army as a military police officer. He married Irene Poliszuk
on January 11, 1964 and moved with her from Paraguay to Chicago, and
then to Minneapolis, the San Francisco Bay Area, and Plano. He retired
from Northrop Grumman as a machinist in 2004. He was an active member of
Stonebriar Community Church and loved his role as a greeter. He enjoyed
planting fruit trees, watching fútbol, and spending time with family. In
2012, he took a long awaited trip back to Paraguay and started a radio
ministry there. His last wish was that the Spanish version of Insight
for Living, Visión Para Vivir, would be broadcast in Paraguay. His
sister will continue the program in his memory. He was preceded in death
by his parents, Basilio and Maria Wlasiuk; he is survived by his loving
wife of 49 years, Irene Wlasiuk of Plano, Texas; son and daughter-in-law
Dan and Lianna Wlasiuk of Fort Mill, South Carolina; daughter and
son-in-law Rosemary and Jeremy Meyer of Plano, Texas; his four precious
grandchildren, Devon Eskew, Paloma, Oliver, and Elliot Wlasiuk; his
siblings Miguel and Carolyn Wlasiuk and their children; Vasha and Ursula
Wlasiuk and their children; Vera and Juan Pieresko; Maria Wlasiuk; Juan
and Aleyda Wlasiuk and their children; Pedro and Anna Wlasiuk and their
children; he is survived by many nephews, nieces, and friends. He was
Shala’s best friend—and she was his. Visitation will be from 6:00-7:00
