Maerene (Cantrell) Wood, 79, left the arms of her children to enter the
arms of her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, on Wednesday, August 6, 2014.
Lois was born December 6, 1934, in Greenwood Springs, MS, the fourth of
eleven children, to the late Isom and Arvilla (Baker) Cantrell.
Lois grew up in Aberdeen, MS, and was a graduate of Aberdeen High
School. She married James Floyd Wood on May 31, 1954. Floyd and Lois
moved to Texas in 1962 where they raised their family. Lois was a long
time member of Webb Chapel Baptist Church in Farmers Branch, TX. She
retired from Rugby Labs in 1996. Her interests included reading, Ranger
baseball games, spending time with, and traveling with family. Lois
loved her grandchildren and great grandchildren, and they affectionately
called her MaMa. Her church family was also very special to her. She was
our prayer warrior and news anchor. MaMa was the heartbeat of our
family, and will be forever loved and missed.
Left to cherish her memory are her children, daughter, Linda Seely, of
Aberdeen, MS; daughter, Brenda Buchwald and husband, Jeff, of
Richardson, TX; son, James Wood and wife, Renee, of Waxahachie, TX;
daughter, Debbie Wood of Carrollton, TX; son, Ricky Wood and wife,
Debbie, of The Colony, TX; and daughter, Donna Dennis and husband,
David, of Lewisville, TX. Seven grandchildren: Timm Henley, Tony Seely,
Chris Wood, Joshua David Wood, Joshua Brian Wood, Ashley Buchwald, and
Allison Dennis; seven great grandchildren; brother, Richard Cantrell of
Pearl River, LA, sister, Doris Burt of New Orleans, LA, and several
nephews and nieces. Lois was preceded in death by her husband, James
Floyd Wood, six brothers and two sisters.
Visitation will be from 6-8 pm, Sunday, August 10th, at Rhoton Funeral
Home where funeral services will be held at 10 am Monday, August 11th,
with the Reverend Ronald Morgan officiating. Interment will be in
Hilltop Memorial Park. |
