OBITUARY   Brett Andrew Wyatt passed away unexpectedly on December 9, 2022. He was born on September 17, 1992, in Dallas, Texas, the son of Randell and Susan Wyatt. Brett was a gifted athlete and musician. At Newman Smith High School in Carrollton, Texas, he played football and also participated in track and field, going to the Texas State Track Meet his senior year and placing fourth in the shot put. Brett was in the Newman Smith concert band, marching band, jazz band and orchestra. He was a four-year Texas All State trombone player, achieving First Chair Trombone in the State of Texas his senior year. He graduated from Newman Smith High School in 2011. He then attended Southern Methodist University and graduated in 2015 with a Bachelor of Music Degree in Trombone Performance. Brett then attended the San Francisco Conservatory of Music and graduated in 2017 with a Master of Music Degree in Trombone Performance. He returned to Dallas and free-lanced as a trombone player in the area, in addition to teaching trombone in several middle and high schools. In the last several years, Brett pursued an intense spiritual journey as he grew closer to God through studying the Bible and reading many Christian books. He loved his family and was dearly loved by them. Brett had written the following a couple of years ago as a future goal: “My ultimate future goal is to live for Christ and to show Him in all that I do. I guess that seems kind of generic. I'm kind of a generic person in general. But I think that God has a plan for my life that may not make sense to me right now if He revealed it. When I think of future goals, I'm just thinking about tomorrow, or even just the next minute as I'm writing this. Right now, I want to glorify God through music because I believe that that is His purpose for my talents and His ministry. However, that can easily change tomorrow. As I was finishing this, I came across the book Colossians, which tells all of those who are in Him to put on the new self. I believe that is my goal at this very moment. I want to do away with my past self and the ways of him, and to put on the new self which is empowered by Christ. I want to set my mind on things above, and to forsake the things of old. My obsessions in sports, video games, T.V shows, junk food, self-worship, laziness, ignorance of God, etc. are the things I want to put to death in myself, and that's just the beginning. I want to be considered successful in the Kingdom of Heaven and not in the kingdom of darkness. By finishing this, I accept my past failures and my past self as an enemy of God. From here on, by God's will, I accept and place my identity in Jesus Christ. By God's grace, I pray that this will become a reality in all of the days of my life, leading to my death and resurrection to eternal life. My identity is not in an earthly relationship, or in earthly desires, or in my earthly career. My identity is in a person who is beyond the troubles of this world, Jesus Christ. By: Brett A. Wyatt” Brett is survived by his parents Randell and Susan Wyatt, brother and sister-in law Clint and Erin Wyatt, sister and brother-in-law Brittany and Ramon Gonzales, grandmother Ellen Bonds, grandmother Emilie Wyatt, aunts and uncles Ann and David Hollo, Chris and Nancy Wyatt, Debbie and Greg Eubank, Barry Wyatt, Anissa and Mark Deal, and many cousins in the Dallas, Austin and Houston areas. He was preceded in death by his maternal grandfather Mel Masters, paternal grandfather Syd Wyatt and his aunt Cathy Wyatt. A visitation will be held at Sparkman/Hillcrest Funeral Home on Monday, December 19, 2022, from 1:00 to 2:00pm, followed by the funeral service at 2:00pm and interment in Hillcrest Memorial Park.
