A. Yglesias
March 24, 1952 – May 21, 2025

Jerry A. Yglesias, 73, of Prescott, Arizona, and Longview, Washington,
passed away peacefully on May 21, 2025.
Born on March 24, 1952, in San Antonio, Texas, Jerry was the beloved son
of Manuel Yglesias and Olga Villarreal Yglesias. He graduated from R.L.
Turner High School and went on to earn a Bachelor’s Degree from Angelo
State University and a Master’s Degree from the University of Texas at
Dallas.
Jerry dedicated over 35 years of his career to aerospace engineering,
serving as a Project Manager and Engineer for both Barrios Technology
and Boeing Aerospace. He was known for his keen intellect,
problem-solving skills, and dedication to his work. Prior to his work in
aerospace, Jerry had briefly worked as a math teacher at Bishop Lynch
High School in Dallas and was highly regarded by his students.
Outside of his professional life, Jerry was a man of many passions. He
was an accomplished guitarist with a deep love for flamenco, classical,
and folk music. He enjoyed collecting Southwestern art and artifacts,
tending his garden, traveling, hiking, kayaking, playing billiards, bird
watching and coaching his children’s sports teams. A lifelong animal
lover, Jerry especially cherished the companionship of his dogs. He was
also a generous supporter of many causes, including Special Olympics,
the Sierra Club, and various Native American charities.
Jerry was united in marriage to Janet Smelker Sefert on December 16,
2006. Together, they shared 18 wonderful years.
He is preceded in death by his father, Manuel Yglesias, and his
daughter, Teresa Yglesias.
Jerry is lovingly remembered by his mother, Olga Villarreal Yglesias;
sisters, Judy Yglesias Webb and Janet Yglesias Dillard; former wife,
Kathy Reece, the mother of his children; his son, Kris Yglesias and wife
Rochelle; daughter, Maria Yglesias; wife, Janet Sefert Yglesias;
stepdaughter, Amber Sefert; and stepsons, Brent Sefert and wife
Kristine, and Cory Sefert and wife Samantha. He was a dedicated
grandfather to Dylan, Daniel, Isabella, Aiden, Logan, Melody, Alex,
Ryan, Brianna, Daisya, and Oshea. He also leaves behind nieces, Hollie
and Kristie, and many dear friends and extended family members.
A private visitation will be held on June 10th. A funeral service
honoring Jerry’s life will take place on Friday, June 13th at 11:00 AM
at Calvary Hill Funeral Home, Dallas, Texas. Burial will follow at 2:00
PM at Hilltop Memorial Park in Carrollton, Texas.
