OBITUARY

Constance Young
January 17, 1935 - October 23, 2020
Dallas, Texas

Constance Jeanette (Smith) Young, age 85, of Garland Texas, passed away peacefully on October 23, 2020 surrounded by her family as she departed into the presence of the loving arms of Jesus. Connie was truly loved by all who ever had the privilege of knowing her. She consistently modeled love, kindness, and grace to family, friends, and all who shared her journey.

Connie married the love of her life, Jerry Young, on June 15, 1957. Connie and Jerry were married 54 years. Connie was an educator by profession and taught in Garland I.S.D. for many years. To those that were fortunate enough to know her, the very best of her resume was as wife, mother, grandmother, and friend. While her immediate family may have been small, there are countless others that would have claimed Connie as their own mother or grandmother and are likewise in mourning. Connie and Jerry were known for their magnanimous hospitality, hosting friends and events for dozens of years in Garland and their favorite vacation destination in Colorado. Perhaps, the greatest impact of Connie and Jerry's generosity was when they opened their home to the new high school ministry in Garland called Young Life. It was in Young Life that her daughter Susan met future son-in-law Scott. Young Life also gave Connie and Jerry the opportunity to influence hundreds of people through their love and selfless giving of time and resources.

Connie will be remembered by how she loved everyone around her. Her family will miss her greatly, but is comforted by knowing that she is now with her Lord and Savior. Survived by daughter Susan Coy and husband Scott; grandson Stephen Coy and wife Chelsea; granddaughter Sheridan Constance Lang and husband Ben; great grandchildren Caroline Constance Coy, Jacquelyn Grace Coy, Lila Blakely Coy, Harper Anne Lang, Peyton Elizabeth Lang, and Jacob Scott Lang.

Private family service will be handled by Charles W. Smith and Sons. In lieu of flowers, please make donations to Garland Young Life. (grs.younglife.org)
