OBITUARY

Richard Charles Zeinert
(June 22, 1972 - April 22, 2024)

On April 22, 2024, Richard Charles Zeinert, age 51, arrived at home with his Lord in heaven - where he likely took a deep, life-filling breath before joining the angelic sound team, cranking up the subs, and adjusting the ear monitors on the heavenly choir.

Richard was born June 22, 1972, in Killeen, Texas, and grew up in Belton, where he was active in FFA, musicals, and show choir. After graduating from Belton High School in 1990, Richard earned an Associates of Applied Science in Electronics from DeVry in 1992 and began his engineering career at Crouzet in El Paso. Over the next two decades he was honored to work in sales/engineering for both Minarik Corporation and Nine Energy Services.

When Richard was transferred to the Dallas area in 1995, he visited a singles' rec night at First Baptist Church of Carrollton, where he joined a volleyball game and met the love of his life, Beth Haney Zeinert, who stayed by his side and on his team ever since. Richard and Beth married on June 29, 1996, and became the proud parents of two children, James and Hannah. Richard loved and supported his kids in all their activities: from coaching three-year-old soccer teams, to building stages for theater productions, to sprinting onto the football field with marimbas and sound equipment every halftime show, to traveling with them (and Beth) on student mission trips and camps, to choreographing daddy-daughter cheer dance routines, and so much more. There was never a time James or Hannah would look at the volunteers, chaperones, or crowd and not see their adoring dad cheering them on.

Richard had many titles–son, husband, father, uncle, friend, deacon, worship leader, go-to guy, soundboard guru–but, by far, his favorite one was child of God.

In August 1986, Richard accepted Jesus Christ as his Lord and Savior, and he devoted his life to serving Him. For almost thirty years, the First Baptist Church of Carrollton (and its later campus, First Baptist Church at The Fields) was filled with Richard’s strong, clear, tenor voice—whether he was singing with Beth on the praise team, coaching and leading the youth worship band, serving as a youth leader and mentor, teaching a college men’s Bible study, leading worship at The Bridge service, praying for others as a deacon, giving godly counsel and advice, or setting up tech and explaining how to do soundboard. Richard not only had a passion for leading worship and worship tech, but he had a passion for equipping others and helping them use their talents as well.

He loved getting involved with his kids’ activities and supporting them with Beth, hunting and fishing, being at the lake and the beach, laughing at the Nateland podcast, playing his guitar and leading worship, telling dad jokes and stories, spending time with his extended family, and polishing off his pumpkin pie with Dr. Pepper or Chick-fil-A sweet tea (a.k.a. Jesus tea).

Richard’s legacy lives on through his wife, Joy Elizabeth "Beth" Zeinert; their son, James Zeinert, and daughter, Hannah Zeinert; his father, Willis Zeinert; sister Barbara Jean Buckner (husband Todd); and brother, Trey Zeinert; as well as his mother-in-law Jan Haney, sister-in-law Jennifer Stair, sister-in-law Heather Scoggin (husband Ben), nieces and nephew: Brittany Stair, Julia Stair, Brian Stair, Emmeline Scoggin, Clara Scoggin, and Georgia Scoggin–as well as many other aunts, uncles, and cousins. Richard was preceded in death by his mother, Sue Lancaster; his stepfather, John Lancaster; and his sister Regina Temples.

Richard Zeinert’s Celebration of Life service will be held on Friday, April 26, 2024, at 10 a.m. in Room 1 of First Baptist Church at The Fields (1401 Carrollton Parkway, Carrollton, Texas 75010), followed by a reception with the family in Room 2. A brief graveside service will follow at 1 pm at Furneaux Cemetery (3650 Cemetery Hill Road, Carrollton, Texas 75010).

The family asks that, in lieu of flowers, donations be made to FBCATF’s Worship Tech Ministry at pushpay.com/g/fbcatf.

“I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith. Now there is in store for me the crown of righteousness, which the Lord, the righteous Judge, will award to me on that day—and not only to me, but also to all who have longed for his appearing.”

—2 Timothy 4:7–8
