OBITUARY
 
Michael Craig Zimmerman
September 30, 1950 - August 12, 2021

Michael Craig Zimmerman was 70 years old when he passed away on Thursday, August 12th, 2021. He was at his home in Shady Shores, Texas. He passed away peacefully in his sleep listening to one of his favorite artists, Justin Todd Herod.

He was born September 30th, 1950 in Kansas City, Missouri to William France Zimmerman and Virginia Lee Deeringer Zimmerman. He graduated from R.L. Turner High School in Carrollton, Texas in 1968. He went to Richland College in Dallas, Texas to take his basics. Then he went to UNT in Denton, Texas to major in English and minor in History. He enlisted in the Marine Corps in 1974-1977. He was a sharpshooter with a rifle and a pistol. He had top secret clearance as well as many other accomplishments. He was honorably discharged as a Corporal.

After the Marine Corps he married his best friend, whom he had known for 14 years prior, Kathy Gilmer Zimmerman. They were married on November 4, 1977 at Webb Chapel Church in Farmers Branch, Texas. He went on to finish his degree at UNT then went onto TWU in Denton, Texas to get his masters in Library Science.

They moved to the Lake Cities area in 1979. They had 3 children, Daena Zimmerman Faubion, Micah Zimmerman and Derek Zimmerman.

He was the Library Administrator for the Federal Reserve Bank of Dallas. He worked at Bain Dallas where he was the Information Specialist and the Global Airline Specialist. He retired in March 2018. His proudest accomplishment was his strong faith and his family.

He traveled extensively with the Marine Corps, Federal Reserve and Bain. He was an avid reader, movie buff and history fanatic. His love for Christ showed as he read through the Bible every year. He was known for being Santa at multiple events all over Texas. He did that for 43 years.

He is survived by his beloved wife of 44 wonderful years, Kathy Zimmerman, daughter Daena Zimmerman Faubion and her husband Tim Faubion, son Micah Zimmerman, son Derek Zimmerman and his fiancee’ Ruthie Zavala, sister Debbie Zimmerman, grandson Cayden Faubion, granddaughters Amy Zimmerman, Averie Faubion, and Dakota Zimmerman. Also a very special friend of our family and especially our Dad, Rachel Bell. She cared for him daily with our mom for almost 2 years.

He is preceded in death by his parents, William and Virginia Zimmerman
